Negotiating the brief - meeting 1 (19/10/2010)

On Tuesady 19th October 2010 I attended the meeting, guest visitor Mr Bowles was also invited.
Group Members: Elliot and Premal, Kelly wasn't present on this day.

In my group Elliot was the negotiator and was barganing and trying to persuade the client, Mr J.Chatton and to get a result in the amendment that we wanted to get. Premal was taking notes throught the meeting as well as myself. Premal was using his phone to do this and I was using ICT tools to do this, I first started to make these notes on blogger but changed my mind and decided to make notes on Microsoft word.

My performamce in this meeting was good becuase I was able to make notes throughout the actual meeting. And before the negotiating process I was able to work with my group to come up with alternatives for the deadline of the brochure. My weakness is that I didn't take much part in the meeting but as said previously I was able to take time through the duration of the meeting I was able to make notes about the other groups ideas and what they were negotiating and what alternatives they have for their decision and why they want to do this amendment to the brief.

The meeting clearly shows a defninite process of dialog between the client and the different members that attended the meeting, however not all members were inputting to a standard that they could have. This could be improved by the different groups allocating a specific area of the negotiation process within the group. Although each group were negotiating different areas of the brief and come up with solutions etc, not every group was successful in getting a deal with the client, Mr J.Chatton. One group got a deal with the client and the amendment was agreed, this could be that they were very prepared, persuasive and convincing. Another group wasn't sucessful in getting an agreement to their amendment and my group was to carry on with this and send the client an email with our ideas for the amendment and that the client would get back with his decision about our idea.

The whole meeting was video recorded so that we could go back and watch the recording and see what the whole groups strengths and weaknesses are and what the different groups strengths and weaknesses are too. And we could see who was making an effort in the meeting.

My feedback to the other groups would be that, to one of the groups they could possible work together a bit more and contribute more whilst in the meeting to back up the other members of their group, however the effect that this had on the group was that they, unfortunately didnt get the result that they wanted. And to the other group they worked well as a team but my honest opinion is that the other group members could of possibly helped out through the duration of the meeting and back up what the negotiator was saying, but in the end they did get the result that they wanted.
