Changes To Pages In Brochure

I have made few changes to some pages in my brochure and I am currently in the process of making changes to other pages for my brochure.


Front Cover:
The changes that i have made to this page are that the page originally had a white background and the text in the title were three different colours; black, red, silver these have now been changed to black and white and the background has been changed to a deep red. And  moved the slogan from the bottom left corner up a little and left it on the left hand side of the page. I decided to do this because i thought that it would make the page look more professional. And I got these idea from other brochures that I have looked at and from opinions from other people.

Week Commencing 6th February

Monday:
completeing computer drafts for front cover, back cover, contents page and introduction page, adding leading to my contents page as this is a requirement.
starting to produce page proofs for all of my computer versions of all my pages
completeing minutes from previous meetings with Mr Chatton

Tuesday:
updating diaries and blogs, making sure up to date with all diaries from the begining of January.


Wednesday:
N/A

Thursday:
Collecting information from Mr Chatton thats to be included in the brochure, sent via email.
Looking through one of the PDF's received from Mr Chatton to collect ideas and information that could be essential to use with my brochure.

Friday:
N/A - all day exam
after school hours will attend an extra session to get more support to comeplete.
Being unable to contact Mr Chatton over email as his emails are down due to a glich in his system.
So alternative solutions for contacting Mr Chatton are via phone call, letter etc.
work at home to complete all page proofs and complete this weeks diary entry and make sure that all required documents are completed.

Meeting With Mr Chatton Thursday 20th and Friday 21st Jan

Meeting with James Chatton about computer drafts for the front cover and back.
Mr Chatton proposed that I completely change the back cover completely and I asked for feedback from another member of my class and they agreed that I was to change it to what Mr Chatton has suggested. I went along with both opinions and I plan on changing the layout of my backcover. Which also looks a lot more professional.
He also stated a few alterations to be made to my logo like change the colour of the N in the logo from the silver that it is to a green, which would represent recycling, echo friendly.

Evaluating the actions taken to plan brochure (WTB) task e

I used a range of different methods to request/collect brochures to analyse, I requested one from Jaguar by letter sent in the post but this wasn't successful and physically collecting them myself from different stores, departments. The other brochures that I used and analysed were the B&Q brochure, The Open University brochure and Very.com brochure, from these brochures I looked at how they carried on the designing of the pages throughout, master paging, their housestyles etc. The weaknesses I had were that I wasnt able to notice specific different elements of the brochures as Im not a specialist on this, so I had to research the different terms to be able to find them on other brochures and how to put them in to my planning and how to do them myself, this took a lot of planning time so became time limited. In order to the planning I needed to understand the design stage process after some time the design stage process became more clearer. Getting to know how produce a master page and how to text orientate etc and how to create a style sheet incase of needing them.

Effectiveness
The effectiveness of my planning effected my dart work sketches (drafts) so that a final could be selected and that I was able to produce at least 3 different sketches for my brochure. But took time as I used some of this time to understand the design stage process. 
Range of software and hardware and their strengths and weaknesses, which helped me come to the decision of what hardware I would be using and what Software I would be using. For the majority of the Software that's available my skills for them are quite good, and I am able to use most Software. Went to re-prographics to find out information about the different printers etc that they have available for us to use which helped me do a quick plan as to how and when I would need to get intouch with the re-prographic department to arrange times etc for the completed brochure to be printed.
Skills Audit
Design stage process : page 1,2,3 etc housestyles through whole design etc.
The housestyle has been easily included throughout the whole design process which will be consitent.
To decide the layout of my brochure I looked at a range of brochures to take ideas from to interpret into my layout so that a range of different ideas are put together to come up with one layout, a range of layouts. 

Front Cover
thinking about how to layout the page to make it look professional and decent for the brochure, 3 well annotated drafts for this page so that the client has a choice of choosing the best page.
what images to use on each of the drafts, considering where to put the logo, and slogan & contact details.
Taking ideas from other sources, other magazines and brochures.

Back Cover
how to layout the page, also 3 drafts for this page and considering what image(s) to have on the page and where the logo will go and what information will be included on this page, also where to put the logo on the page. having these drafts available for the client to choose one that they prefer the most, with them being annotated in detail.

Contents Page
layout of the page, a variety of annotated drafts (3) for the client to choose the one that they prefer.
what images, if any that i plan to use if the client wants any images on the page. And where to have text on the page, wether I will have it alligned to the left middle or right, how i will add leading onto the page.



Introduction Page
Design 3 drafts of how I would lay the page out and where i would put the information and how the information on the page will be displayed, and get the client to choose one of the drafts that they prefer and would like the page to look like. 


General Sales Pages
Design 3 different draft for a layout for the pages so that the client would then be able to choose the layout that he perfers and likes most and thinks will be most suitable for the brochure. And then develop these drafts onto a computer and produce computer version 1 which then the client will then make decisions on any changes that he would like to be made on it.


Feature Article - Back to Biking
3 drafts of the design that I would like the client to chose a final design which will be used to produce a computer version for each of the pages and then show these to the client to find out what changes he would want done on then and keep improving on each.


Price List
